Psychology is a multidimensional discipline that studies mind and behavior. It has many subfields such as lifespan developmental psychology, health psychology, experimental/cognitive psychology, social psychology, clinical psychology, industrial-organizational psychology. Contrary to popular belief, psychology focuses not only on humans but also on other animals and even artificial intelligence. Psychology is a wide-ranging academic discipline that crosses the boundaries between the natural, social and human sciences. As such, it can ask a wide range of research questions and study these research questions using different research methods. 

The field of psychology contributes to society in different ways due to its different sub-branches and its suitability for interdisciplinary work. The study of psychology offers solutions to better understand and meet the needs of individuals, groups and organizations. The work of psychologists responds to many different needs such as understanding social phenomena, resolving intergroup conflicts, increasing peace and job satisfaction at work, evaluating and treating individuals in need of psychological support, increasing the motivation and success of athletes, evaluating and rehabilitating people involved in crime, and determining the status of individuals with cognitive dysfunction.

Bachelor's degree in psychology provides students with the theoretical knowledge of the main subfields of psychology and the basic research methods and statistics needed to conduct a scientific study. Psychology graduates have basic knowledge about the field of psychology. Psychology graduates who want to specialize in any subfield of psychology can complete their master's and doctorate degrees by focusing on the field they are interested in. They can become practitioners by completing their specialization or researchers or academicians by completing their doctorate. 

Acıbadem University Department of Psychology in English is a very young department established in the 2020-2021 academic year, aiming to provide its students with the highest level of professional and academic competencies. The department will complete the accreditation requirements as soon as possible by not compromising on education and training standards and will apply for accreditation by the Turkish Psychologists Association authorized by YÖK. Taking Acıbadem University Department of Psychology, which has been teaching in Turkish since its establishment and accredited in 2021, as a guide, the Department of Psychology in English takes the same standards as an example and has an academic staff who believe in ethical and scientific principles, are experts in their field and teach in their field of expertise.  With its constantly developing academic staff and infrastructure facilities, it aims to be among the leading and respected psychology departments in our country.

Our English curriculum, which is carried out in parallel with the Turkish program, has a comprehensive pool of elective courses that will help students get to know different subfields of psychology. Thus, students are supported to realize their own interests and shape their careers accordingly. Thanks to our curriculum created entirely in English, up-to-date and universal scientific standards are followed not only for Turkish-speaking students but also for international students.
