The “Nursing Department Orientation Program,” organized by the Acıbadem University Department of Nursing, was held on September 28, 2026, in the university’s Conference Hall. The program was organized to support the adaptation of newly enrolled Nursing Department students to university and departmental life.

The first part of the program featured an introduction to the Undergraduate Nursing Program by Prof. Dr. Ükke Karabacak, Head of the Department of Nursing. Students were informed about the structure of the nursing education program and were introduced to the department’s faculty members, providing an opportunity for their first interaction with the academic staff.

In the second part of the program, Prof. Dr. Esra Uğur provided information about the academic advising system, class coordination, and class representation. The advising mechanisms available to students throughout their academic journey and communication processes within the department were discussed.

Another part of the orientation program featured the Peer Support Program, introduced by Asst. Prof. İrem Özel. The importance of peer support in facilitating students’ adaptation to university life and nursing education was emphasized.

In the final part of the program, Prof. Dr. F. Yasemin Kutlu delivered a presentation entitled “Communication Competence: Taking the First Steps in Nursing.” The presentation addressed the importance of effective communication in nursing, the role of communication skills in students’ professional lives, and the communication competencies that should be developed when taking the first steps into the nursing profession.

Throughout the program, students had the opportunity to learn about the academic structure of the department as well as the academic and social support opportunities available to them throughout their university experience. Students’ questions were answered, and information was provided on topics related to the new academic year.

The Nursing Department Orientation Program was successfully completed as a productive event that contributed to students’ orientation to the department, facilitated their initial interaction with faculty members, provided information about academic processes, and supported the development of their initial awareness of the nursing profession.

Following the orientation program, students visited the student clubs located at the Main Entrance to learn more about university life and explore activities aligned with their interests. Students had the opportunity to learn about the various student clubs, meet club members, and gain further insight into the university’s social and extracurricular opportunities.
