Dear Faculty Members and Students,
As of April 3, 2023, decisions of the General Assembly of Higher Education Council (YÖK) for the 2022-2023 Spring Semester are as follows;
- In addition to the ongoing distance education, face-to-face education can be provided in classrooms for students who wish to attend; attendance will not be required.
- Higher education institutions will decide on providing a course both through distance education and face-to-face, and make the necessary arrangements accordingly through their boards.
- The restriction on the maximum of 30% of the courses in a semester to be provided through distance education, as stated in Article 6 of the "Principles and Procedures for Distance Education in Higher Education Institutions," will not be applied.
- Students who continue their education as special students in other higher education institutions can continue their education in the same way.
- "The "practical courses" that were postponed to April may be given as assignments, projects, or in many different forms of assessment during the spring semester, summer term, or during the next academic year's face-to-face classes, depending on the decisions of the relevant boards of Higher Education Institutions.
- Midterm exams during the spring semester (except for programs involving practical education for which special studentships had been given) will be conducted online using distance education methods based on the principles of "transparency and accountability."
- Open-ended or multiple-choice online exams, assignments, online short exams, projects, Learning Management System (LMS) activities, LMS usage analytics, and similar applications can be used for evaluation.
- Authorized boards of the higher education institutions will determine the dates and procedures for end-of-semester, single-course, thesis monitoring, proficiency exams, and such.
In line with these decisions, our education and training activities will start face-to-face as of April 3, 2023, and the details regarding the decisions will be announced separately by the Faculty/School/Institutes that you are affiliated with.
We wish you success and convey our regards.
