Within the scope of Acıbadem University's Gemstone Project, the event titled "Gemstone Course on Chemogenetic Modulation and Validation" took place at our university on January 18-19, 2024. Aimed at young researchers working in the field of neuroscience at the university, the event was organized to teach the DREADD'S methods, which are prominent in global-scale research, thereby enhancing research capacity. During the event, Acıbadem University faculty member Prof. Filiz Onat presented on "What is Chemogenetics?" Associate Professor My Andersson from Lund University gave a lecture on "An Introduction to Chemogenetics and the Validation of Chemogenetics In Vitro and In Vivo," Associate Professor Nihan Çarçak Yılmaz from Acıbadem University discussed "Combining GEMs and Chemogenetics to Determine the Role of Cortical Circuits in Absence Seizures," and Associate Professor Meltem Kolgazi from Acıbadem University talked about "Current Infrastructure for Viral Vector-Mediated Research." The event, attended by 19 people, concluded with the issuance of participation certificates to 14 attendees who met the competency requirements.
