In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey, Acibadem University proudly sponsored the "Payda Science Camp" as part of the "Together with Payda Students" project. This initiative, held from August 20th to 26th, 2023, was designed to provide educational opportunities and promote self-confidence and motivation among 29 young female students by acquainting them with their envisioned areas of specialization.
The "Payda Science Camp," organized by the Payda Platform, aimed to empower students currently in the 11th grade who reside in underprivileged regions of Turkey and were adversely affected by the earthquake that occurred on February 6, 2023. Throughout the camp, students were exposed to a variety of theoretical lectures and laboratory practical sessions within the premises of Acibadem University's Faculty of Medicine. Moreover, presentations enriched by career discussions featuring professionals from diverse fields were conducted to broaden the students' horizons.
This educational endeavor was complemented by a team comprising three supervising teachers and six dedicated Payda volunteers who provided guidance and support to the participating students. Aligning with the camp's objectives of experiential learning and personal development, the students were accommodated in the student dormitories at Acıbadem University's Istanbul campus. The program also incorporated a range of social and cultural activities, encouraging participants to explore creative arts and foster collaborative interactions. Furthermore, trips and activities within Istanbul were aimed at enhancing the participants' cultural awareness.
The success of the Payda Science Camp was made possible through the support of various institutions and organizations, including the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Tuzla Municipality, All Anatolia Tourism, and Turgut Pharmaceuticals Inc.
