The event titled "ACU Social Talks 7: The Irresistible Lightness of Walking: 120 Km Guided by Yellow Arrows, St. James Way" organized by the Internal Communication Commission of Acıbadem University took place on March 6, 2024, at our university. During the event, Tuba Usseli, an instructor at the School of Health Services Vocational College, amateur nature walker, and nature enthusiast, shared her story of walking 120 km on the St. James Way in Spain with the audience. The Camino de Santiago, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is known as the general name for pilgrimage routes that culminate at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in the Galicia region of Spain. Starting from various locations in Spain, France, and Portugal, there are numerous paths leading to Santiago de Compostela, each with its own unique route.
Usseli shared her experiences from the last 5 stages of the 800 km long French route with the participants. In her presentation, where she also discussed the philosophy of walking, Usseli talked about the history of the St. James Way, the preparations she made before embarking on the journey, and the experiences she had along the way, focusing on the Galicia region, known as the most beautiful stage of the French route. She supported her presentation with photographs and videos she took during the journey.
At the end of the event, questions from the participants were addressed, with a total of 30 attendees.
