On September 27, 2023, within the framework of the ACU Social Talks organized by our University's Internal Communication Committee, an event titled "Creativity, Imagination, and Adulthood: A Meeting with Creative Drama" took place. The primary purpose of this discussion was to facilitate an intellectual exchange on topics related to imagination, the transition to adulthood, creative drama, and play. During the conversation, various aspects were explored, including the defining traits of creative individuals, the obstacles that hinder creativity, the concept of adulthood, and the role of creative drama.
The guest speaker for this event was Idil Guney Simşek, a graduate of the Istanbul Drama Art Academy's Creative Drama Education program and the Capital Communication Academy's Voice Acting-Dubbing program, as well as a lecturer at Acibadem University. After an initial theoretical presentation, the discussion transitioned to interactive stages, guided by the principle of "learning through practical experience."
To address the impediments to creativity, a workshop was conducted that involved participants reinterpreting objects associated with learned barriers, with the aim of imbuing them with different meanings. This event, which drew participation from 30 attendees, concluded with an evaluation and discussion session following a workshop dedicated to generating improvised narratives complete with titles.
