The Down Syndrome Awareness Event, organized by the Department of Nursing at Acıbadem University in collaboration with the Turkey Down Syndrome Association, took place between November 20-27. Aimed at increasing awareness about Down Syndrome among Acıbadem University students, the event addressed questions such as 'What is Down Syndrome? What are the common misconceptions about Down Syndrome? What employment programs are available for individuals with Down Syndrome? How can one communicate with individuals with Down Syndrome, and what are the volunteer programs available?' To attract students' attention, a booth was set up under the guidance of Lecturer Dr. Azize Karahan, where brochures and handmade candles and notebooks created by individuals with Down Syndrome for the Turkey Down Syndrome Association were distributed. During the event, Psychologist Seniha Salihoğlu provided information on 'Down Syndrome, the Down Syndrome Association, and Employment Programs for Individuals with Down Syndrome,' and Gözde Uçan, an individual with Down Syndrome, presented 'My Voice, My Program, and the Self-Advocacy Program.' The event ended after the question-and-answer session.
