As in previous years, our university welcomed 24 medical students from various countries around the world this July. Coordinated by the Acıbadem University Medical Students’ Association (ACUMSA), a member of the Turkish Medical Students’ International Committee (TurkMSIC), which is affiliated with the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA), this exchange program served as an international bridge between students and faculty members.

Among the participants, 21 students came from various European countries, 2 from Canada, and 1 from Mexico, all currently studying in their 4th, 5th, or 6th year of medical school. Of the total 24 students, 20 completed clinical internships in different departments under the supervision of specialist physicians at Acıbadem University School of Medicine, while the remaining 4 participated in research projects led by Prof. Dr. Tanıl Kocagöz in the field of Medical Microbiology.

ACUMSA Local Exchange Officer and 3rd-year student Eren Barış Karagöz emphasized the popularity of Istanbul and Turkey in international exchange programs, highlighting that the educational and research opportunities offered by Acıbadem University play a key role in students' preferences. Karagöz also noted that it has become increasingly difficult to limit the number of participants to 24 due to the growing interest each year.

Prof. Dr. Özgür Kurt, one of the International Mobility Coordinators of the School of Medicine, stated that the program is strongly supported by the university and that they are pleased with the growing connections formed each July between their students and future international physicians. He also pointed out that Acıbadem University students can gain similar experiences abroad through exchange programs like this.

Prof. Dr. Kurt, who was also a TurkMSIC volunteer during his student years, emphasized that first-, second-, and third-year students who take on active roles in ACUMSA gain valuable personal development through this experience. He also extended his gratitude on behalf of the Dean’s Office to all faculty members involved in the program and especially to Prof. Dr. Tanıl Kocagöz for his significant contributions.
