The Pancreatic Nursing Forum (PAN-CARE 2026) was successfully held between 24–27 June 2026 as part of the 58th Joint Congress of the European Pancreatic Club (EPC) and the International Association of Pancreatology (IAP). Organized with the contributions of the faculty members of the School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University, the forum brought together approximately 1,200 participants from around the world.
As the first nursing-focused forum integrated into the EPC-IAP Joint Congress, PAN-CARE 2026 created a unique international platform dedicated to advancing nursing knowledge and practice in pancreatic care. The forum aimed to strengthen evidence-based nursing practices, promote multidisciplinary collaboration, encourage international exchange of knowledge and experience, and support the integration of research, education, and clinical care.
The scientific program addressed a wide range of current topics in pancreatic nursing, including acute pancreatitis, pancreatic surgery, perioperative nursing care, Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS), pancreatic fistula management, nursing in endoscopic interventions, nutritional support, patient education, psychosocial care, palliative care, digital health technologies, and artificial intelligence applications in nursing.
Throughout the forum, speakers highlighted the essential role of nurses in the management of pancreatic diseases. Sessions emphasized that nurses are not only providers of direct patient care but also leaders in evidence-based practice, early recognition of complications, patient and family education, multidisciplinary teamwork, and nursing research.
The organizing committee included Prof. Ükke Karabacak, Prof. Güralp Onur Ceyhan, Asst. Prof. Nermin Ocaktan, Asst. Prof. N. Ayşen Pamir Aksoy, Research Assistant Nergis Durukan, and Anıl Çantaş, RN, MSc, whose contributions played a significant role in the successful implementation of the forum.
By bringing together leading experts and healthcare professionals from different countries, PAN-CARE 2026 significantly increased the international visibility of pancreatic nursing while establishing a strong foundation for future collaborations in research, education, and clinical practice. Guided by the principles of scientific excellence, collaboration, and patient-centered care, the forum represents an important milestone in shaping the future of pancreatic nursing.
