Scope

The aim of the integrated MD-PhD program at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University is to train medical doctors as scientists who have the capacity to conduct independent research in the field of basic and clinical sciences. The program targets medical faculty students to integrate their scientific production into their education, increase their biomedical research competencies and obtain the title of doctor of philosophy as well as the title of doctor of medicine.

Application requirements

Active students who continue their education at the Faculty of Medicine are accepted to the MD-PhD program. The requirements for the student to be accepted to the program are as follows:

  • Applicant should be in the top 5000 in the relevant score type in the Higher Education Institutions Exam Field Proficiency Test, which is the basis for admission to the Faculty of Medicine.
  • Applicants should obtain at least a score of 80 from the central foreign language exams accepted by the Council of Higher Education or an equivalent score from the international foreign language exams whose equivalence is accepted by ÖSYM or a score of 75 or above out of 100 in the faculty's preparatory foreign language threshold exam
  • The overall academic grade point average of the first and second years of the Faculty of Medicine must be at least 3.5 out of 4.
  • Applicants should have received an ALES score of at least 80
  • Students enrolled in a double major or minor program cannot apply to the Program.

Application process

The applications will be made to the Student’s Office. During the application evaluation process, announcements and interviews are made in English. Student admission to the program is made based on the overall academic grade point average and interview results. Procedures regarding interview and evaluation are carried out by the MD-PhD Coordinatorship. Student selection is planned in accordance with the Institute academic calendar. In evaluating students' success and ranking, the average of their 1st and 2nd year grades and interview scores are considered.
