Applications

What factors does the MD-PhD Program consider in selecting students?

The admission requirements are defined in the rules and regulations of Acıbadem University Medical Faculty MD-PhD Program Regulations document. In addition to the qualities and experiences mentioned, the MD-PhD Education Committee is particularly interested in those candidates with sustained and productive research experience. A letter of intent, stating the current experience and special interest on MD-PhD program should be provided during admission.

Can I change the MD curricula (Pathways, HST, or both) and/or PhD program track after submitting the application?

Applicants are unable to revise their selections after selecting the track.

Is the GRE required?

The MD-PhD Program does require a GRE of 3.5/4 from the first two years of Medical School.  

Are international students allowed to apply for the MD-PhD program?

Due to the course of Turkish Higher Education Council requirement, currently international students can not apply to ACUSOM MD-PhD Program.

Interviews

Does the MD-PhD Program interview cover scientific questions?

Yes and no. The most competitive applicants have a strong foundation in advanced science coursework, dedicated research experience, and are highly committed to a career as a physician scientist. Depending on the research experience, the applicants are subjected to questions relevant to their research topics.

PhD

When do students formally apply to the PhD program?

ACUSOM students can apply to MD-PhD program by the end or the second year of medical school.

The programs are biophysics, biostatistics and bioinformatics, medical biotechnology and translational medicine

Decisions

The decisions are made by the MD-PhD Program Education Coordinator Council and announced by the Deans’ Office.
