The 10th National Cytopathology Congress was hosted by our University

The 10th National Cytopathology Congress, organized by the Cytopathology Association with international participation, took place at our university from April 19-21, 2024.

In recent years, the emergence of targeted therapies has necessitated diagnosis and treatment guidance using smaller samples, thereby increasing the prominence of cytopathology in routine pathology practice and education. At the National Cytopathology Congress, new developments ranging from cytomorphology to molecular tests and digital cytopathology applications were shared and discussed. The event, which featured participants from both domestic and international locations, also focused on updated cytopathology reporting systems.

Topics covered at the congress included Lungs, Mediastinum, Body Fluids, Pancreas, Endocrine Organs, Cervicovaginal Cytology, Salivary Glands, Soft Tissue and Bone, Lymph Nodes and Lymphoid Lesions, Small Biopsies, Liquid-Based Cytology, Digital Cytology, Immunocytochemistry, Molecular Methods, and Cytopathology Subspecialty Training. The congress featured 33 oral presentations, 15 oral poster presentations, and 38 e-poster presentations. Dr. Yener Erozan, who made significant contributions to the establishment and development of cytopathology in Turkey, was commemorated. Plaques were presented to retired academics who have contributed to cytopathology in our country.
