Conference on "Social and Individual Reflections of the Israel-Palestine War" and Gaza Exhibition

In May, Acıbadem University organized an exhibition titled "Witnessing the Modern Era: The Human Tragedy in Gaza" accompanied by oral presentations to raise awareness about the humanitarian crisis resulting from the Israel-Palestine war. On May 28th, the Social Sciences Institute hosted a conference entitled "The Israel-Palestine War: Social and Individual Reflections." 

Within this context, Prof. İnci User, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Acıbadem University, discussed the characteristics of inter-state conflicts and wars in the post-Cold War period, and how these impact social structures and civilian populations. Dr. Apak Kerem Altıntop, a faculty member in the Department of Genocide Studies at the Institute of International Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity at Istanbul University, addressed the dangers faced by unaccompanied children globally, the specific risks encountered by unaccompanied children in Gaza, their layered disadvantages, and the humanitarian, organizational, and institutional challenges in the region.

Clinical Psychologist Alagun Belce Bahsi highlighted the profound psychological traumas and significant wounds to mental health caused by war. She emphasized that the atrocities of war could lead to a substantial shift in the understanding of humanity and the meaning of life, and stressed the importance of rekindling hope where meaning is lost.
