The Acibadem University Club of Forensic Sciences and Criminology hosted a noteworthy event titled "Dialogue with Crime Fiction Writers" on March 20, 2024, featuring esteemed crime fiction author and crime investigation expert Mesut Demirbilek as the distinguished guest. Prior to his acclaimed career in crime fiction writing, Demirbilek graduated from the Police Academy and served in various capacities at the Istanbul Homicide Bureau, eventually founding the High Technology Crimes and Information Systems Center before retiring as a police chief. He is also the founder of My Security Analytics company. His scholarly work, "Profiles of Murders and Their Comparison with Other Foreign Metropolises", remains a seminal reference globally. During the dialogue, Demirbilek shared insights into his journey as a writer, delving into his literary works and the intricacies of the writing process. Commencing his foray into crime fiction with the series "Cinayet Sohbetleri", co-authored with Algan Sezginturedi, Demirbilek's inaugural book, "Kavgaz: The Bagman," based on real events, was succeeded by "Kavgaz: The Pilot" in 2023, earning him the prestigious "Crime Novel of the Year" award.
In addition to reflecting on his experiences, Mesut Demirbilek elucidated his future endeavors to the participants. The symposium, attended by 30 individuals, concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session.
