Gemstone: Gene Regulatory Approaches for Retinal Gene Therapies

As part of the Acibadem University Gemstone Project, an event titled "Gene Regulatory Approaches for Retinal Gene Therapies" was held on April 30, 2024, at our university. The event aimed to share information on studies involving transgenic animals and AAV virus applications, the use of gene regulatory approaches for retinal gene therapies as a case study, and to discuss the latest developments in this field. Participants not only presented new scientific knowledge but also benefited from the expertise of Dr. Cavit Agca, a renowned scientist in the field. The event, which continued interactively, covered topics such as the principles of conducting scientific research on transgenic animals, the fundamental principles of retinal gene therapies, gene regulatory techniques and applications, Autosomal Dominant Optic Atrophy (ADOA), and OPA1 gene targeting, endogenous neuroprotection mechanisms in the retina, and AAV applications.

The meeting, attended by 34 participants, concluded with a Q&A session.
