The event titled "Oral History of Ordinary Women: Onlyherstory" was organized in collaboration between the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Sociology, and the Commission for Gender Equality on April 26, 2023. The purpose of the event was to present an example of how the history of ordinary women can be valued, seen as a part of history, and made visible from a gender perspective through social research. The co-founders of the "Onlyherstory" Project, historian Duygu Atlas and writer Derya Atlas, who are also sisters, were hosted as participants.
During the event, the Atlas sisters shared their joint project, "Onlyherstory," explaining how it came about and their aim to make the lives of ordinary women visible. They emphasized the importance of discovering the silenced aspects of their own family stories and developing the "Onlyherstory" project to make the lives/histories of unnoticed/ordinary women visible. The Atlas sisters drew attention to the commonalities in the stories of women from different times and places. They emphasized that through "Onlyherstory," fractures based on marginalization in society can be transformed by finding common ground.
