Prof. Dr. Yesim Isil Ulman and Assist. Prof. Dr. Ceren Gülser İlikan Rasimoglu from the Department of Medical History and Ethics at Acıbadem University School of Medicine attended the NERQ Train-the-Trainer on Responsible Conduct in Research (RCR) Programme organized by the European Network of Education of Research Quality (NERQ) at the European Commission's headquarters in Brussels on 17-18 October 2024. The training was opened by Dr. Dorian Karatzas, Head of the Ethics and Research Ethics Sector of the European Commission, and attended by academics, researchers from universities and centers in Europe.
The trainers, Mariette van den Hoven, Julia Priess-Buchheit, Michiel de Boer, Giulia Inguaggiato, and Tamarinde Haven, conducted an efficient theoretical and practical training by insightful presentations, inspiring group studies, and interactive discussion sessions. Thought provoking discussions took place on topics such as Responsible Research and Authorship, Research and Publication Ethics, Research Integrity, Open Science, Research Ethics Education Curriculum, Institutional Support for Research Ethics; examples of good practices were exchanged.
Embassy of Good Science VIRT2UE Research Ethics trainers Ulman and Rasimoglu provided information about the training implemented at Acıbadem University. It was emphasized that universities should establish an institutional policy on Research Ethics as a requirement of a scientific and professional attitude, become members of the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities (ALLEA), and thus enhance education, research and project opportunities supported by the European Commission.
