Language Proficiency

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

1. Acıbadem University Foreign Language Preparatory School examination regulations are applied for the Preparatory education Program and undergraduate programs.
2. Students are required to certify their English language proficiency to start English undergraduate programs.

a) Applicants are required to submit a valid English proficiency certificate at the time of application. Applicants who submit a valid language certificate can begin their undergraduate studies without taking the English proficiency exam of the University.
b) Students who cannot submit a certificate are required to take the ACEPT (Acıbadem University English Proficiency Test) and must obtain at least the minimum passing grade determined by the Senate.
c) Students who cannot meet proficiency requirements are required to attend the English Preparatory Program.
d) Students who study at a secondary school in a country where English is spoken as a mother tongue for at least the last three years and complete secondary education in these institutions are exempt from the English Preparatory Program.

3. Students enrolled in Turkish associate degree and bachelor degree programs are required to take the APPT (Acıbadem University English Proficiency Test). According to their result, they may be exempt from English courses partially or completely. Students who do not take the exam or do not submit an equivalent international exam result must take these courses.

Exams and the minimum scores accepted by ACU:

*Students who has 85 and above score from YDS and / or e-YDS must take the APPT / ACEPT speaking and writing exams and obtain at least 70 to be exempt from the English Preparatory Program

** a) TOEFL IBT Results from public universities will be accepted only. Institutional TOEFL IBT results are not acceptable
b) Students who take TOEFL-IBT exam abroad and whose total score is 80 and above must take the APPT/ACEPT speaking and writing exams and obtain at least 70
c) TOEFL IBT documents received from abroad must have C173 corporate code of Acibadem University. Documents without this code will not be accepted and additional results can be requested from the TOEFL center with the Score Report Request Form

TURKISH PROFICIENCY

1. Students, who apply to Turkish-medium degree programs, must prove their Turkish proficiency before registration.
2. For Bachelor degrees, students who obtained at least B2 level score and for Associate degrees, who obtained at least B2 in the Turkish Proficiency Examinations administered by TÖMER, Yunus Emre Institute or any other examination centers accredited by the Higher Education Council can start their degree programs.
3. Turkish proficiency of students enrolled in Turkish or English programs may be evaluated by the university in written and / or oral exams when necessary.
4. School of Medicine students are required to certify their Turkish proficiency at the end of the third year. Students who fail to prove their Turkish proficiency will not be allowed to continue to their 4th year clinical studies.
5. The Turkish proficiency requirement is not applicable to those students who have studied and completed their secondary education in a Turkish-medium high school in Turkey.
6. Student registered to Turkish programs must prove their Turkish proficiency level within two years, otherwise they will be deregistered.
